OVERVIEW

The Artist Lounge is looking to add an experienced bartender who can take on some assistant management duties to our Front of House team. The successful candidate would work with other our FOH team members, Manager & Event Coordinator, and Owners to ensure smooth operational flow, quality customer service, and solve problems as they arise.
The restaurant is open from Wednesday through Sunday, and hosts a variety of art openings, private, and ticketed events. At The Artist Lounge, we consider cocktails an art form, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about mixology and hospitality. Connecting and collaborating with our team and clientele is of the utmost importance.
We are flexible with scheduling and will work with the successful candidate to ensure fair and reasonable compensation for their experience and abilities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 years cocktail bar or equivalent experience is required. Candidates with less than three years of experience will not be contacted.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to establish and develop relationships with team members, partners, and customers.
  • Basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.
  • Proficiency in phone etiquette for customer interactions.
  • Experience with POS systems is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and be on call as needed.
  • Valid Alberta ProServe certification.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, control, and composure in difficult and stressful situations.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Capacity to safely lift and easily maneuver potentially heavy trays of food and drinks.
  • Must be over 18 as alcohol service and open scheduling availability is a requirement.

Responsibilities
  • Create, mix, pour, garnish, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for the bar and restaurant guests.
  • Serve drinks and food at the bar and assist in table service, including setting up seating, running food, clearing tables, and cleaning.
  • Opening the restaurant, setting up and taking down the bar completely, and closing.
  • Prepare and batch cocktail mixes, syrups, garnishes and other ingredients needed to prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Consistently execute drink production principles and practices, ensuring that all recipes and practices are followed.
  • Innovate and develop new recipes for signature cocktails with customers in mind and input from Front of House team.
  • Engage with customers to provide exceptional service and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Utilize POS systems for transactions and inventory management.
  • Monitor inventory levels and work with FOH and BOH to ensure stock is replenished and maintained. This may involve picking up inventory from locations around town, and so the ability to drive and access to a vehicle is preferred.
  • Assist with training new FOH staff and supporting their professional development with effective and positive feedback.
  • Prepare for and execute special requirements and requests events, including weekly musical nights, monthly art openings, and special events.
  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, provincial, and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees, and guests.
  • Communicate regularly with management and provide feedback regarding possible issues, potential improvements and efficiencies, and team successes.
