As a member of Shell Energy Analysis & Design CC, you will work as an SME closely with business and IT stakeholders to define and shape future solutions within the Gas & Power portfolios. This role demands extensive experience in Commodity Trading and Trading Operations within the Gas sector. A thorough understanding of both intrinsic and extrinsic factors affecting complex valuations and modelling is essential.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

As a Lead Energy Trading Business Analyst and SME in the domain, you will be aligned with a specific commodity (Power, Gas, or Environmental Products) and/or a specific functional area (such as Front, Middle, or Back-Office). You will be responsible for leading the identification and documentation of business needs, starting with problem statements, collaborating with technical teams to explore feasible solution options. In the strategic ETRM program, you will oversee the business analysis activities for your workstream from inception through to delivery.

Your role will vary depending on the specific area of expertise, however typically you would perform the following day to day activities:

  • Interacting with traders/ desks on challenges needs, working within IDT stakeholders on business case and opportunity shaping
  • Planning, delivery, and assurance of business analysis deliverables on multiple programmes
  • Driving and managing scope and design for a workstream, including assessing the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options
  • Point of escalation for issues within your workstream
  • Coaching and mentoring of the wider business analysis team
  • Generating innovative approaches to existing problems or new opportunities
  • Stakeholder management - building relationships with key stakeholders, keeping them informed and managing expectations
