Description:

Athlete Institute is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Youth Basketball League Convenor. This role will be responsible for overseeing and managing operations of the League, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for participants, parents, and coaches alike. The Basketball House League Convenor will work closely with coaching staff, league participants, and other departments to ensure the successful execution of the league’s programming, including games, practices, and special events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Previous experience in sports league coordination, event management, or coaching, preferably in basketball or other team sports. Experience with youth sports is an asset.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with players, parents, coaches, and staff.
  • Organization & Time Management: Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and manage time effectively to ensure all aspects of the league run smoothly.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to manage conflict, handle difficult situations with tact and professionalism, and make decisions in a timely manner.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities, especially in team or group settings. Ability to inspire and motivate coaches, players, and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of Basketball: A solid understanding of basketball fundamentals and league structures, with an ability to apply this knowledge to facilitate player development and league operations.
  • Technology Skills: Proficiency with basic office software (Word, Excel, etc.) and sports management platforms (e.g., Digital Shift, etc.)

Responsibilities:

  • League Operations: Manage the execution of the Youth Basketball League, including managing coaches, skill stations, game coordination, referee assignments, photo days, playoffs and championships.
  • Team & Player Coordination: Oversee team assignments, and balancing of teams to ensure fairness and competitive balance. Facilitate communication between coaches, parents, and players.
  • Coaching Support: Provide support to coaches by helping with team management, distributing materials, and assisting with the development of training plans and game strategies.
  • Volunteers: Coordinate coaches and scorekeepers to effectively execute skill development plans and games.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all league operations comply with safety guidelines and Athlete Institute’s policies. Ensure that all participants and volunteers adhere to codes of conduct.
  • Customer Service: Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, players, and coaches. Address any inquiries, resolve issues, and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. Communicate needs and improvements with management
  • Reporting: Record results and update on league website.
  • Community Engagement: Build a positive reputation for the league within the community.
