In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of combat systems that define player experiences in cutting-edge games. You will guide a team of designers to create polished, engaging, and balanced combat mechanics, ensuring the highest standards of gameplay quality. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will oversee technical implementation, mentor designers, and influence key decisions across multiple projects. You will drive innovation in player-focused design while fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture. \n Accountabilities: Lead and mentor the Combat Design team, defining the vision and approach for core gameplay mechanics. Champion the overall player combat experience, including 3Cs (Character, Camera, Controls) and encounter design, ensuring high-quality gameplay. Oversee implementation of combat behaviors, encounters, and bosses within Unreal Engine, maintaining clear design documentation. Collaborate with key stakeholders across production, direction, and technical teams to align design objectives with project goals. Guide design processes for various gameplay features, from fine details to overarching experiences, ensuring consistency and quality. Support the team in adapting to shifting priorities, tight deadlines, and a fast-paced development environment. Promote creativity, problem-solving, and innovation within the team to deliver memorable player experiences. Requirements: 5+ years of experience in Game Design with proven leadership experience. Strong expertise in combat and 3Cs design, with a deep understanding of player-centered mechanics. Experience shipping at least 2 AAA titles, ideally action RPGs or Souls-like games. Deep familiarity with Unreal Engine and the ability to guide a team effectively using its pipelines. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills for leading a distributed team. Creative mindset with the ability to inspire, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to designers.
