Upper Valley Medical Center 3130 N COUNTY ROAD 25A, TROY, OH 45373 DEPT: HEALTH INFO MGMT SERVICES Full-Time / 8:00 to 4:30 Under minimal supervision, coordinates various aspects of the departmental clerical areas. In doing so, ensures the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of processing of all types of records for chart completion. Coordinates the activities of the release of records area of the department which includes phone calls, faxes, printing, and burning charts to CD/Flash drives. Assures that guidelines of HIPAA are followed to reduce the hospital's potential liability in releasing records or protected health information. Assures accurate data is collected for purposes of patient care, medical/paramedical education, legal, administrative, and community health care purposes. The Lead Completion Tech is responsible for covering the department for all shifts, including required weekends and holidays, when there is a staff shortage or scheduling conflict. Consistently exceeds quality expectations in the HIM Operations area. Demonstrates extensive knowledge in all medical records functions in the department. Serves as a mentor of other HIMs staff to facilitate a higher level of quality by providing educational support on a daily basis. Essential Duties & Functions: · Ability to provide coverage in all duties assigned in area of responsibility. · Responsible for covering the department for all shifts, including weekends and holidays, when there is a staff shortage or scheduling conflict. · Responsible for troubleshooting any issues that arise in assigned area responsibility. · Coordinates the day-to-day activities of personnel engaged in clerical and ROI sections. · Answers questions for staff on clerical and ROI issues. · Monitors reports for follow-up- Missing Provider, Done & Decline. · Maintains all productivity logs for the staff. · Develops & secures approval of policies and procedures, as needed. · Performs audits as assigned. · Understands the HIPAA and Compliance program. · Assist HIMS leadership, as needed. · Attends meetings on all assigned committees. · Attends meetings and handles office issues when the manager is not in the office. Other Duties & Functions: Assist with interviews for potential HIM staff, as needed. Assist with coordination of schedules of HIM staff, as needed. Post schedules for workflow, office cleaning, and all other schedules, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate, understand, interact, and respond effectively with employees in the HIMs department, all levels of hospital, and medical staff members. Associate degree from an approved health information management program with the credentials of an RHIT or RHIA or presently working toward obtaining their credentials preferred. 5-7 years of job-related experience. Leadership experience preferred. Medical Terminology or completion of medical terminology course within 3 months of hire. Notary required or obtained within 3 months of hire. Knowledge of computer systems required. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
