Description
Summary Guidewire is the platform P&C insurers trust to engage, innovate, and grow efficiently. Our Global Delivery Center (GDC) Professional Services team partners with some of the world’s largest financial services and insurance companies to deliver complex, business‐critical implementations. We are looking for a Lead consultant who is passionate about solving complex technical problems, enjoys working directly with customers, and wants to play a key role in delivering high‐quality solutions for Japanese insurers. Job Description What You Will Do ● Work on complex, large‑scale implementations for global financial services and insurance customers using Guidewire products. ● Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality code that follows industry standards and internal best practices, with a strong focus on clean design, performance, and reliability. ● Collaborate closely with Japanese customer teams to understand business objectives and functional requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and present design and implementation options clearly. ● Mentor and coach junior developers, sharing best practices, reviewing code, and helping them learn how to solve complex problems effectively. ● Contribute to application architecture and technical design, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with customer and Guidewire standards. ● Drive continuous improvement by promoting modern engineering practices (CI/CD, automated testing, code quality) and suggesting enhancements to ooling and processes. ● Work both independently and as part of a distributed team, taking ownership of your deliverables while collaborating closely with consultants, architects, QA, and customers. What You Bring Technical Skills ● Strong experience with Object-Oriented Programming in Java, C# or proficiency in other programming languages. ● Solid hands-on experience with relational databases, including data modelling and SQL. ● Experience in web UI design and development (front-end concepts, frameworks, and best practices). ● Working knowledge of XML and application integration. ● Proven experience contributing to application architecture and applying design patterns in enterprise solutions. ● Practical experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Unit Testing (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, test automation, code coverage). Domain & Customer Experience ● Experience working with Japanese customer teams, including gathering and clarifying business objectives and functional requirements. ● Comfortable participating in customer workshops, demos, and technical discussions, with strong presentation and stakeholder management skills. Language Requirements ● Japanese language fluency is mandatory, with JLPT N1 or N2 certification. ● Strong English communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Leadership & Ways of Working ● 8–12 years of overall software development experience, with leadership experience in successful development teams (e.g., leading modules, workstreams, or small teams). ● Demonstrated ability to work independently within a team, manage priorities, and deliver high‑quality work with minimal supervision. ● Confident communicator who is comfortable expressing and defending ideas based on technical merit, while remaining open to feedback and alternative approaches. ● A genuine enthusiasm for continual technical improvement and a strong desire to learn from and collaborate with others. ● At Guidewire, we foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and responsible use of AI—empowering our teams to continuously leverage emerging technologies and data-driven insights to enhance productivity and outcomes.
