LEAD CONTENT DEVELOPER

Job Title: Lead Content Developer (English) – Primary School
Country: Cape Town, South Africa
About the project: EduConservation SPACis a pan-African environmental educational project focusing on integrating well researched Africa-centric conservation resources to enrich and supplement the curricula of the formal education systems in African countries.
Purpose of the Job: To work under the supervision of the Project Manager: Development and Education in one or more of the EduConservation content development teams and to coordinate the efforts of the team. Content development will be for conservation education material for Namibia in the primary school phase (6 to 13 year old learners).
Minimum Education Required: Tertiary Diploma / Degree (preferably Education based). Background in Education and Content Development.
Minimum Experience Required: Minimum of five (5) yearsof professional experience in Education (Primary School), Content Development, and advantageous to have worked in the non-profit environment
Minimum Training Required: EduConservation will provide general training on EduConservation and SPAC requirements
Supervision: Incumbent supervised by Project Manager: Development and Education or EduConservation Programme Director

Responsibilities

KPA 1 - CONTENT DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be conversant on the values and vision of EduConservation including the educational materials
  • Provide input into EduConservation’s educational materials and templates
  • Be able to work within the curriculum of different countries by familiarising yourself with the country curriculum
  • Be prepared to participate in educational mapping exercises as required
  • Follow up on country implementation: record and share videos on Teachers’ WhatsApp group, share presentation, information or conservation articles on Teachers’ WhatsApp group, answer comments/questions on Teachers’ WhatsApp group, in-country school visits when required.
  • Work on Teachers Training modules, support inspectors in their daily missions, present workshops, etc.
  • Work with and coordinate the development team in the process of localising the EduConservation lessons and educational resources for relevant African countries
  • Provide general input into development and research when required
  • Assist in the finalisation of print ready material
  • Work under the supervision of the Project Manager: Development and Education and provide reports as required
  • Work with relevant team members in the Design Process of educational materials
  • Present a positive and supportive attitude to other tasks requested by Project Managers.

KPA 3 - GENERAL COORDINATION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate, provide support and serve as a liaison with the local country team
  • Maintain regular and strong lines of communication, including weekly calls with local country team and when necessary travel to the country for meetings and workshops
  • Support and work closely with the other teams within EduConservation, specifically the Project Team, as and when required
  • Provide reports and assist with other coordination tasks when required
  • Able to work on Google Drive, especially create, check or modify documents when required
