This is an exciting opportunity and newly created role to support Metro Bank’s strategic pivot and ambitious growth plans in Corporate & Commercial Lending. As our Lead Corporate Lending Counsel, you will be responsible for delivering commercially focussed legal advice in a practical way to stakeholders at all levels across the business, to help the Bank deliver on its strategic goals and manage legal risk effectively and directly.

• Providing commercially focused, sound non-contentious and contentious legal advice for senior management level and their teams
• Managing and delivering practical legal support for corporate and commercial banking, in particular corporate lending, at Metro Bank
• Supporting Metro Bank to meet its strategy in your day-to-day activities, with a particular focus on directly contributing to Corporate & Commercial lending transactions
• Effectively managing external counsel in relation to Corporate & Commercial lending
• Managing legal risk within Metro Bank’s risk appetite
• Supporting the development of legal strategy to best serve Metro Bank
• Demonstrating skills in internal and external relationship management and stakeholder engagement especially at a senior level
• Delivering or facilitating training and support across the legal team and the broader business to ensure stakeholders are up to date on legal matters that are important to Metro Bank
• Contributing to horizon-scanning, especially in relation to Corporate & Commercial banking

• Supporting engagement with professional, industry and regulatory bodies
