About the role
We’re looking for an experienced and driven Lead Cyber Security Consultant to join our growing security practice at Wanstor. In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with our Head of Security to shape and lead a talented team of Cyber Security Consultants, delivering a broad portfolio of services to help our clients strengthen their security posture.
This is a hands-on, senior-level role ideal for someone who enjoys both technical delivery and strategic thinking. You’ll lead customer engagements, develop service offerings, and play a key role in evolving how Wanstor provides cyber security services across various industries.
You’ll be responsible for managing a team, delivering expert consultancy, and contributing to the continuous improvement of Wanstor’s security products and processes.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in a cyber security consultancy and ready to step up to senior role supporting other consultants
  • Strong, demonstrable experience delivering Cyber Essentials and CE Plus audits, including hands-on remediation guidance (Cyber Essentials Plus Assessor certified or holding related certifications with the intention of becoming CE Plus Assessor certified is highly desirable)
  • Hands-on vulnerability assessment experience across infrastructure, networks, and applications
  • Familiarity with threat and vulnerability management tools (e.g.Qualys)
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills, able to present technical findings to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of the Microsoft stack (e.g. EntraID, Defender, Intune) from a security and compliance perspective
  • Experience contributing to presales or technical bid processes
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and customer-facing skills
  • Demonstrated leadership ability – mentoring junior team members, setting objectives, and supporting continuous improvement
Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus audits, guiding clients through assessment, remediation, and certification
  • Serve as a technical and strategic lead on customer engagements, ensuring alignment with business and compliance needs
  • Support the commercial and sales process by contributing to presales engagements, including scoping, solution design, and proposal writing
  • Provide security consultancy across infrastructure, cloud, and endpoint environments – including advice on best practices, policy development, and technical control implementation
  • Act as an escalation point and mentor for other consultants and engineers
  • Own and deliver vulnerability assessments, including reporting, debriefs, and remediation planning
  • Continuously evolve Wanstor’s cyber security product offerings, including templates, processes, automation and toolsets
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of compliance standards and frameworks, including NCSC guidance, ISO 27001, and GDPR
  • Contribute to the development of automated and repeatable processes for delivering assessments and security audits efficiently and consistently
  • Drive internal and client-facing education and awareness on threat landscapes and evolving risks
