The Senior Consultant – Data Lead will serve as the strategic and technical anchor for data-driven transformation initiatives. This role is responsible for shaping and executing enterprise data strategies, leading data governance frameworks, and unlocking business value through data and AI. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in data strategy, governance, and value realization, with hands-on experience in AI initiatives focused on data readiness and enablement. As a senior member of the team, this individual will guide clients through complex data journeys, mentor junior consultants, and influence senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

YOUR FUTURE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development and execution of enterprise data strategies aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and implement data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, stewardship, and compliance (e.g., GDPR, POPIA).
  • Drive data value realization initiatives, including data monetization, cost optimization, and competitive differentiation.
  • Support AI/ML initiatives by ensuring data readiness, quality, and integration into AI pipelines.
  • Conduct data maturity assessments and develop actionable roadmaps for data capability uplift.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to align data architecture with strategic objectives and scalable AI solutions.
  • Advise clients on data ethics, responsible AI, and regulatory implications of data use.
  • Facilitate workshops and executive engagements to align data initiatives with business strategy.
  • Track and report on KPIs to measure the impact of data and AI investments.
  • Mentor and support junior consultants in data strategy, governance, and analytics delivery.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data strategy, governance, and analytics within consulting or enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting or leading AI initiatives, particularly in data preparation, governance, and integration.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data ethics, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and modern data architectures.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and advisory skills.

  • Data Strategy & Governance – Vision setting, policy development, regulatory alignment, and stewardship models.
  • Data Value Realization – Business case development, KPI frameworks, and performance tracking.
