We are looking for a Lead Data Architect who loves all things related to Data, from its consistency, accessibility to how it’s used with other technologies like Artificial Intelligence.
You’ll lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive group data strategy across a diverse range of platforms and systems. You will be accountable for the quality, integrity, hierarchies and use of data through leadership of Data Leads within the business, defining data policies, access levels, and retention requirements, ensuring they align with business needs and regulatory compliance
You will be part of Architecture Management Office (AMO) as the owner of the data architecture for the group, delivering new designs and changes to existing and new business data solutions.
You will collaborate closely with engineering, analytics, product, data leads and executive teams to ensure data is a strategic asset.
You will hold responsibility for the opex and capex health across solution proposals within your domain. You will ensure that data themes are clear across the Long-Range Plan, providing incremental planning updates to the Director of EA & Technology Strategy on a quarterly basis.
You will play a key decision-making role in architectural review boards and other strategic forums.

Key responsibilities:

• Oversee the design of multiple data models and have a broad understanding of how each model fulfils the needs of the organisation
• Be accountable for creating and maintaining the organisation’s data strategy
• Champion data architecture both internally and through collaborating and communicating
• Set the standards and ways of working for data architecture
• Be accountable for assuring data models at the level of a project or enterprise
• Provide advice to project teams and oversee the management of the full data product life cycle
• Be responsible for ensuring that the organisation’s systems are designed in accordance with the enterprise data architecture
• Define and implement data standards, frameworks, and patterns for consistent data storage, consumption, and distribution.
• Communicate complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work closely with other domain leads, business leads and external vendors on strategic and/or transformation initiatives.
• Work closely with and support Solution Architects and the Lead Business Architect.
• Work closely with the Data Analytics team, providing governance and a data framework across an exciting and varied tech stack (SAP ERP/BW, AWS, UiPath, RedShift, Pyramid etc)

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

• Highly experienced in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles (ideally 10 years +)
• 5+ years of data architecture strategies
• Proven experience leading large-scale data architecture initiatives in modern cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Understanding of modern data technologies such as:
• Data Warehousing (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift)
• ETL/ELT tools (e.g., SAP BTP, Matillion, SepaSoft)
• Data Lake and Lakehouse architectures
• Proven strategic leadership, setting data standards and roadmaps for large organizations.
• Demonstratable ability to mentor and develop technical team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation
• Certifications in TOGAF, BIZBOK, Lean Six Sigma, Agile, or similar frameworks
