Description
Ciklum is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join our team full-time in Ukraine. We are a custom product engineering company that supports both multinational organizations and scaling startups to solve their most complex business challenges. With a global team of over 4,000 highly skilled developers, consultants, analysts and product owners, we engineer technology that redefines industries and shapes the way people live. About the role: As a Lead Data Engineer, you'll set the gold standard for our data practices at Client's. You'll be the architect responsible for making our data scalable, reliable, and built on modern best practices — driving the strategy behind our data models and bridging the gap between high-level business goals and technical reality. Project is the Energy Intelligence Platform, turning energy complexity into seamless coordination. We help energy companies overcome today’s challenges while accelerating the shift to a clean, electrified future. Our platform orchestrates millions of real-time decisions across homes, devices, markets and grids. By combining predictive algorithms with human-centred design, Client makes clean energy dependable, affordable and adaptive to everyday life. With teams across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, and a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation in Japan, we power leading companies including OVO, AGL and ENGIE, as well as innovators like Volvo and Volkswagen. Responsibilities: * You'll define and enforce engineering best practices (CI/CD, modularity) across the data organisation, develop advanced modelling solutions for complex scenarios, and research and implement modern data stack tooling  * You'll own the long-term vision for data modelling, design and implement data governance frameworks, and act as lead responder for GDPR-related incidents * Working cross-functionally, you'll partner with Product to shape the Analytics Engineering Roadmap, translate complex business needs into technical requirements, and champion a data-driven culture across Client Requirements: * Expert-level proficiency in SQL and dbt, with a strong focus on writing clean, reusable, and testable code * Mastery of dimensional data modelling and the ability to develop solutions for highly complex scenarios * Proven ability to drive adoption of new standards, patterns, and tools across multiple teams without direct authority * Exceptional communication skills — able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and senior business leaders * Strong stakeholder management experience, with the ability to extract core requirements and identify the source of truth in complex, cross-functional environments * A deep, end-to-end understanding of the data lifecycle, from ingestion and transformation through to consumption Desirable: * Experience owning and driving a long-term data modelling strategy, not just contributing to one * Hands-on experience designing and implementing data governance frameworks * Experience acting as a lead responder for GDPR or data privacy incidents * A track record of leading rapid proof of concepts to validate new technologies or approaches * Experience contributing to broader data org strategy and influencing data culture at an organisational level What`s in it for you? * Strong community: Work alongside top professionals in a friendly, open-door environment * Growth focus: Take on large-scale projects with a global impact and expand your expertise * Tailored learning: Boost your skills with internal events (meetups, conferences, workshops), Udemy access, language courses, and company-paid certifications * Endless opportunities: Explore diverse domains through internal mobility, finding the best fit to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies * Flexibility: Enjoy radical flexibility – work remotely or from an office, your choice * Care: We’ve got you covered with company-paid medical insurance, mental health support, and financial & legal consultations About us: At Ciklum, we are always exploring innovations, empowering each other to achieve more, and engineering solutions that matter. With us, you’ll work with cutting-edge technologies, contribute to impactful projects, and be part of a One Team culture that values collaboration and progress. As one of Ukraine’s largest IT companies and a top employer recognized by Forbes, we’ve spent over 20 years delivering meaningful tech solutions.
