OVERVIEW:

We’re looking for a Lead Data Engineer to architect and optimize the pipelines and platforms that fuel UniGroup’s growing data ecosystem. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll guide project delivery, shape our cloud-first data infrastructure, and mentor a small, collaborative team, all while working with tools like Snowflake, Matillion, and DBT.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable data pipelines and models using Snowflake, Matillion, Informatica, Python, and SQL
  • Manage and enhance our cloud-based data ecosystem, orchestrating both streaming and batch data flows from systems such as HubSpot, Google Analytics, and legacy databases
  • Oversee access control, data governance, and platform reliability to ensure secure and timely data access
  • Mentor engineers and guide project execution through technical leadership and knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to align data priorities and support reporting platforms like ThoughtSpot and Qlik
  • Participate in an on-call rotation (every 5–6 weeks) to triage and resolve overnight data pipeline issues
  • Promote best practices in data engineering including automation, version control, and performance tuning
  • Support modernization efforts by helping transition legacy systems to cloud-based infrastructure and DBT-based transformations

What You Bring:Required:

  • 5–7 years of experience deploying production code in a data engineering or application development environment
  • Expertise with Snowflake and at least one orchestration tool (Matillion preferred)
  • Strong coding experience with Python and SQL
  • Familiarity with DataOps tools such as Git and DBT, and cloud environments like AWS
  • Ability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
  • Experience mentoring peers and leading technical initiatives
