Job Summary
The Lead Database Administrator (DBA) will oversee and ensure compliance with technical, security, and IT policy guidelines across all database administration tasks. This role involves leading the administration of cloud platform databases for a complex, high-performance enterprise Relational Database Service (RDS). The Lead DBA will collaborate closely with developers, Information System Security Officers (ISSO), and engineers to design, manage, and maintain RDS, ensuring seamless integration with existing information systems and continuous improvement of the IT infrastructure.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Clearance: Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance as required by the federal government client.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in database administration with a focus on cloud platforms.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale enterprise RDS.
  • Proficiency in database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS RDS).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate system performance and implement improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective team collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the administration of cloud-based RDS, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Work closely with development teams, ISSOs, and engineering staff to facilitate effective database integration within the IT ecosystem.
  • Ensure all database activities adhere to established technical, security, and IT policy guidelines.
  • Analyze systems to assess interactions between databases, applications, infrastructure, and DevOps tools.
  • Evaluate the impact of changes or additions to the database environment on overall system performance.
  • Conduct testing to ensure databases meet performance benchmarks and reliability standards.
  • Implement strategies to enhance database scalability in line with emerging business needs.
  • Ensure that all database operations meet stringent security requirements.
