SUMMARY

The Lead DevOps Engineer leads the DevOps activities of one or more software products and supporting systems. In this role, the Lead DevOps Engineer will use expertise to develop strategic plans, refine requirements and provide technical leadership in achieving development objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 8 years’ experience, MS with 6 years’ experience, or PhD with 4 years’ experience
  • Proven track record of crafting robust and efficient DevOps practices and infrastructure
  • Substantial experience with [e.g. source code version tools (git) and automated continuous integration software, such as Azure DevOps]

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent technical knowledge and commercial experience with Azure DevOps, Conan, Nuget, CMake, SCONS and other build management and package management software
  • Experience leading high-level projects that may span business units
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems
  • Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent scripting skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to provide guidance to junior team members
Responsibilities
  • Actively participates in the planning, architecture and research of new build, infrastructure, and packaging technologies
  • Performs complex debug and testing actions on code, processes, and deployments to identify ways to streamline execution and minimize errors encountered
  • Assists in the design and implementation of tools and infrastructure architecture
  • Collaborates with development teams and leads projects that may involve restructuring code and/or significant changes to the developer experience
  • Coordinates upgrades of third-party and open-source products and gets requirements from consumers to ensure packages are viable to all stakeholders. Works with open-source reviewers to ensure compliance with copyrights and licensing
  • Employs best practices and maintains them through technical reviews and mentoring.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision, may take on some mentoring responsibilities or supervise interns
