SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

As an experienced Lead Educator, you will have:

  • Min of Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent.
  • A sound knowledge of the Qld Kindergarten Learning Guidelines, Early Years Learning Framework v.2.0 and innovative practice.
  • Experience developing a rich curriculum utilising current pedagogy.
  • Ability to have supportive and respectful conversations with colleagues and families to collaborate on an individual learning program for each child.
  • Effective time management skills, including the flexibility to adapt as the daily environment changes.
  • Commitment to engaging in intentional critical reflection to continually build practice and outcomes.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our kindergarten is receiving funding under the Great Start to Kindergarten initiative to provide free access to three year olds in the year prior to kindergarten. To support the children in transitioning into a new environment, we are seeking a Lead Educator who can work alongside our two Early Childhood Teachers to plan, implement and evaluate a high-quality program which will meet the needs of individual children and the group to optimize learning, wellbeing and safety.
Our Sessional Kindergarten enables children to enjoy indoor and outdoor natural play areas with rooms equipped with the latest age-appropriate technology and learning resources. Our Kindergarten caters for up to 22 children per day, with operating hours from 8:30am to 2:30pm during school terms.

DUTIES

  • Plan, implement and evaluate a rich program which reflects your vision of a creative learning environment for children of all abilities and all cultures.
  • Effectively document the children’s growth and development.
  • Work collaboratively with the teachers and other support staff to enable the effective provision of services across the day.
  • Ensure high quality care and education for each child which aligns with the National Quality Framework.
  • Engage in ongoing critical reflection.
