Role: Lead Electrical Engineer – Nuclear Site Projects
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Sellafield, CA20 (Predominantly site-based with occasional off-site work)
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience + site allowances (£43-£45k)
Reporting To: Sellafield Site Manager / Head of Nuclear Operations / Project Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship (e.g., NVQ Level 3) AND/OR

HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Full UK Driving Licence (Essential due to site location and potential off-site work).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Significant proven experience as an Electrical Engineer, preferably in a

Lead/Chargehand/Supervisory capacity.

  • Demonstrable experience installing, commissioning, and maintaining electrical

systems in highly regulated industrial environments (Nuclear, Petrochem, Pharma,

Heavy Manufacturing).

  • Strong understanding of electrical/industrial control systems (PLC, drives, sensors).
  • Experience interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical

specifications.

  • Proven track record of working safely under strict permit-to-work systems.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • In-depth knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and Electricity at Work

Regulations.

  • Proficiency in relevant Microsoft Office packages.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent H&S qualification.
  • Experience working specifically within the Sellafield site environment or UK nuclear

sector.

  • Cross-disciplinary understanding (Mechanical/Electrical/Control Systems).
Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team
working on the Sellafield site. This pivotal role involves leading the electrical engineering
aspects of installing, commissioning, and maintaining our specialised door systems within this
high-hazard nuclear environment. You will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, reliability,
and compliance of our electrical installations. A key objective will be working towards and
gaining your formal Sellafield site nomination.
This is a predominantly site-based role, requiring a hands-on approach and leadership on the
ground.
