RAM is searching for a motivated and experienced individual in Vancouver, BC or Calgary, AB. Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Supervision and leading direct reports from the Electrical Engineering Team, including advising on training and professional development for staff and completing annual performance reviews;
- Mentor junior engineers and technologists to grow the team and provide technical guidance;
- Support the division’s strategy and assist in setting key performance indicators for the division and staff.
Design
- Lead the design and development of detailed electrical design packages for above and below ground power distribution, substations, transmission lines;
- Lead the design and development of detailed electrical design packages for grounding, EV charging and lighting systems;
- Lead the design and development of single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, grounding plans and technical & equipment specifications;
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, industry standards, client standards, safety standards and regulatory requirements;
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety by design principals in the project work;
- Prepare estimates for design and construction packages;
- Act as the key contact with clients, stakeholders, sub-consultants utilities, and relevant third parties on projects; and
- Review electrical project deliverables and act as Professional of Record (POR) as required.
Engineering Work Package Management
- Manage scope, schedule, and budget on electrical discipline projects; and
- Chair periodic status meetings and record meeting minutes
Business Development
- Responsible for Business Development and the pursuit of new clients for expansion into targeted markets, and maintaining relationship with existing clients to foster repeat business; and
- Lead, participate, and contribute to the RFP process including writing execution methodology and estimating hours and costs for various opportunities
Ideal Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering;
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered either with Engineers & Geoscientists BC (EGBC), The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or a professional engineer registered in another jurisdiction and eligible for registration with EGBC or APEGA;
- 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3 years in utility projects;
- Previous experience in tools such as ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, PSCAD, SPIDAcalc, or PSSE is considered an asset; and
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
