ABOUT YOU We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team as a Lead Engineer, specializing in A/C software and embedded systems. This role will primarily focus on providing regulatory guidance and engineering direction. You will contribute to NAEW&C HQ commitments in the areas of systems engineering and interoperability. Your expertise will help steer NAEW&C HQ NE-3A system interoperability policy, shaping decisions that impact the entire NAEW&C HQ programme. Your responsibilities will span MSEC fully organic software engineering activities as well as collaborative efforts involving industry partners/ FMS/ and organic work. This includes supporting Continuous Engineering (CE) processes across hardware (HW), firmware (FW), and software (SW) to sustain and enhance NE-3A fleet capabilities. While providing technical leadership, you will manage, direct, and guide all Force requirements related to sustainment modifications for the NE-3A onboard mission systems and mission sensor systems, as well as associated ground support systems and the broader engineering support environment, including development and test facilities. Additionally, you will assume the responsibilities of the Change Programme Manager (CPM). While ensuring compliance, you will operate in accordance with EMAR Part 21/Part 145 and the USAF Developmental Engineering framework, NATO and Military Standards, system engineering standards as well as OSS&E, Airworthiness requirements and HQ NAEW&C HQ’s rules and regulations. YOUR ROLE Define, monitor, and continuously improve engineering processes, ensuring consistent standards and working methods; Develop engineering concepts, frameworks, and system-level requirements, including quality, safety, airworthiness, and security aspects; Lead the integration of related disciplines, including configuration management, quality assurance, flight safety, and airworthiness in accordance with NATO Standards; Manage and coordinate mission system and sensor software modifications, including tasking, Statements of Work (SOW), and change requests; Assess requirements and coordinate compliance with Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and Airworthiness Directives for HW, FW, and SW in support of the NE-3A fleet; Coordinate and support modernization programmes, addressing technical, schedule, and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources (DMS) challenges; Develop and maintain engineering procedures, manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring product quality and regulatory compliance; Execute the responsibilities of the Change Programme Manager (CPM) for mission electronic systems; Provide technical guidance to System Engineering Branch staff, ensuring compliance with OSS&E and airworthiness requirements; Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including participation in committees and working groups, and contribute to major system changes; Support airworthiness activities, including reporting, audits, and advising on modernization programmes; Monitor and manage COTS-related issues through continuous engineering design; Review and coordinate logistical challenges and modernization initiatives, delivering appropriate recommendations. YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Essential University Degree and 4 years post related experience, or Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 5 years post related and 2 years function related experience; Four (4) years recent experience in system engineering Hardware, Firmware, and Software and project work in a system engineering environment; Profound experience in intensive transaction processing or management support systems, preferably industry experience in developmental system engineering for military products; Four (4) years recent technical working experience in system engineering HW, FW, and Software design and development; Four (4) year experience at a supervisory level in organization, management, developmental engineering; Sound knowledge of main system life cycle models, best industry practices and international system engineering standards, especially ISO 12207 and ISO 15288 OSS&E processes and Airworthiness rules and regulations for military aircraft (EMAR Part 21/Part 145 and USAF Developmental Engineering Airworthiness); Sound knowledge of civil airworthiness requirements RTCA/DO 160, RTCA/DO 178B, RTCA/DO 200, RTCA/DO 25; Profound knowledge of process description; Working knowledge of Automatic Data Processing (ADP) systems; A good command English language in all skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing). Desirable: Airborne Early Warning and Control System knowledge and experience is highly desirable. In addition, a background working with NATO Committees related to Air Defence Communications and knowledge of plans, policy and operations management of air operations (both ground and maritime environments) in NATO; Design of Mission Electronic Hardware, Firmware, and Software; Sound experience with design, development / sustainment of airborne IT systems; Industry Engineering Processes for development; Industry Quality Management Systems; Sound understanding of ICAO/EASA/USAF/EMAR airworthiness rules and regulations; Sound understanding of the Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness Process (OSS&E); Minimum of ten (10) years system engineering in the NATO E-3A programme The ability to brief international audiences on technical subjects, airworthiness and quality requirement; Industry, electronic warfare experience; Master's/Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in physics, electrical/computer engineering or in a related engineering field or in computer science, with corresponding working experience; Proof of successful completion of advanced high order computer programming language training.
