Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on Lead Engineer to own our cloud infrastructure, application architecture, and product development execution. This is a senior, high-impact role for someone who thrives in early-stage environments and wants to shape both technical systems and product direction. You will be responsible for building scalable, secure infrastructure while leading development of our products. You will work cross-functionally with leadership, product, and design to translate vision into shipped features used by school districts, students, and families nationwide. What You'll Do Own day-to-day engineering execution across our products Design and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines Translate product vision into technical architecture and shipped features Lead backend and frontend development with an emphasis on performance, reliability, and maintainability Build and maintain integrations with school district platforms (Clever, ClassLink, SIS systems) Collaborate on monetization strategy and implement analytics and metrics to inform product and retention decisions Help evaluate and evolve our technical stack as we scale Maintain high code quality standards while balancing speed and scalability Requirements Qualifications Required: 5+ years of software engineering experience Experience managing cloud infrastructure in production environments Experience shipping and maintaining SaaS products Strong backend development experience (Python strongly preferred) Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines Strong problem-solving and communication skills Nice to Have (but not required): Experience in early-stage startups Experience building subscription-based SaaS products Familiarity with Anvil or Python web frameworks (Flask, Django) Experience implementing analytics and A/B testing Interest in education or prior experience in EdTech Experience collaborating with security/compliance teams (SOC 2 environments) What You’ll Gain Ownership over critical infrastructure and product systems at a company whose products are backed by Gates Foundation-validated research The opportunity to shape products from early-stage growth to scale — across both B2B and B2C Real influence over technical architecture and stack decisions at a stage where those choices still matter A small team with direct access to leadership and no layers between you and decisions The ability to build technology that meaningfully impacts student learning outcomes Location: Remote (U.S. based) Compensation: $125,000–$150,000 Start Date: ASAP
