Description
What’s the Role: This role is part of Westpac’s UNITE initiative, focused on simplifying the mortgage servicing landscape by consolidating multiple applications into a single platform. As part of this initiative, a key phase involves large‑scale data migration, for which we are expanding the team. The role requires strong expertise in ETL frameworks and data engineering practices, along with the ability to provide technical oversight. This includes reviewing the work of Data/ETL developers and ensuring high standards of end‑to‑end data delivery, quality, and integrity across the migration process. Key Responsibilities:   * Lead end-to-end database migration initiatives, owning strategy, design, execution and governance across legacy and modern platforms.  * Provide senior technical oversight to ensure data integrity, security, performance and compliance throughout migration lifecycle.  * Design and validate migration architectures, source-to-target mappings, cutover strategies, and target state improvements.  * Manage risks, dependencies and rollback planning while ensuring data accuracy, reconciliation and consistency post-migration.  * Collaborate across engineering and delivery teams, mentor engineers, and produce high-quality documentation, runbooks and artefacts. What do I need?   * Strong experience with enterprise data migration and ETL tools (e.g. Informatica or similar), including building custom migration frameworks and scripts.  * Proven ability to migrate data across complex, heterogeneous environments (e.g. Oracle ↔ SQL Server, legacy to modern platforms).  * Deep understanding of data validation, reconciliation, migration testing and ensuring data accuracy and integrity.  * Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills, with ability to influence outcomes at a senior level and work across multiple teams.  * Exposure to mainframe environments (VSAM/IAM), cloud or hybrid platforms, and experience with automation, CI/CD, performance tuning and integration-heavy ecosystems. Why join us?   We’re obsessed with becoming our customers' #1 banking partner for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return, we’re committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country.
