We're seeking a Lead Estimator to join our Delivery Phase Services (DPS) team.   We welcome applications from anywhere in Australia with a GHD office in your local city.   In this role, you’ll lead our estimating team and deliver CAPEX cost estimating expertise across renewables, rehabilitation, resources, energy, and major infrastructure projects, supporting both our project teams and clients.   You'll be working within a supportive, collaborative environment and be involved with a broad range of commercial activities, including: * Lead and mentor a team of estimators, managing CAPEX cost estimates across all project phases, including concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and execution. * Develop and structure cost estimates using first principles, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, client requirements, and execution strategy. * Review engineering drawings, material take offs, and scope of work to ensure cost estimate accuracy and completeness. * Maintain up-to-date market pricing and construction practices, benchmarking against historical data and market comparisons. * Identify and mitigate risks, assessing uncertainties in productivity, material pricing, wage rates, and quantity variations. * Prepare and present study report documentation, including Basis of Estimate and Estimating Plan, and communicate estimate findings to clients and project teams. * Participate in constructability and risk workshops, assisting projects in identifying scope deviations. * Ensure compliance with GHD’s governance requirements and cost estimating standards, supporting continuous improvement of estimating practices.   What you will bring to the team: * Trade qualification or tertiary degree in Engineering or Construction Management * 15+ years’ experience as a Cost Estimator on major resources and infrastructure projects, including delivery of projects exceeding AU$100 million, with a stable employment record demonstrating long-term commitment to previous roles, ideally at consulting organisations * Advanced knowledge of cost estimating processes, procedures, EPC/EPCM practices and methods, with proven ability to organise, direct, perform, review and present estimates independently * Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills, with experience developing and managing a team of estimators * Strong task delegation and team management abilities, ensuring delivery of high-quality estimates within deadlines * Expertise in prioritising and executing tasks effectively in high-pressure environments * Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and estimating software   Interested? Responsibilities
The Lead Estimator will lead and mentor a team of estimators, managing CAPEX cost estimates across all project phases from concept through execution, and developing cost estimates using first principles aligned with project scope and strategy.
