Description

SOFWERX was established under a Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA) between the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and DEFENSEWERX (DWX). SOFWERX is a platform designed and operated to increase collaboration and innovation as well as explore, experiment, and assess promising technology for USSOCOM. Its growing ecosystem includes both traditional and non-traditional problem-solvers with a focus on new, novel, and provocative capabilities.

JOB SUMMARY:

Serve as SOFWERX’s Lead Event Coordinator in Tampa, Florida. The Lead Event Coordinator will oversee planning through execution of all approved events. Manage the expectations of and coordinate directly with stakeholders, academia, national labs, industry, and other strategic partners in the region to ensure SOFWERX events and activities remain effective for USSOCOM. Collaborate with the Marketing team to design, develop, and execute comprehensive marketing plans which facilitate the effective engagement of SOFWERX’s ecosystem. Supervise Event Coordinators, Events Intern, and other collaborators working on events, social media, marketing, and the SOFWERX website. Implement and monitor intern performance goals and provide mentorship while promoting a safe and vigorously innovative culture. Report to the SOFWERX Events & Meetings Manager in Tampa, FL.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Must have 3 or more years of leadership or management experience of team(s) of more than 5 personnel.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field in hospitality management, event management, communications, or public relations is preferred, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Excellent planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including spoken and written communication
  • Must be willing and able to lead in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
  • Efficient time-management skills; ability to multitask and take initiative.
  • Attention to detail with exceptional proofreading skills.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in computer skills and capability of adapting to new platforms quickly.
  • Experience preferred with use of: Canva, Microsoft Office Tools, Sli.do, Form Builder tools, and HubSpot (or other CRM tool).
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking and assisting in leading tour groups.
  • Availability to work some weekends/evenings (event driven).
  • Ability to lift ~35 lbs and be on your feet for 6-9 hours a day.
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and implement all plans, procedures, and processes necessary to support events.
  • Oversee coordination with the event and office administration teams to ensure efficiency, coordination, and effectiveness for scheduling and execution of internal and USSOCOM sponsored events.
  • Collaborate and supervise targeted invites, event information, venue information, timelines, and any pertinent details determined by each specific event.
  • Create and proof content and provide feedback of SOFWERX website, event webpages, ecosystem releases, and feedback forms from pre through post event.
  • Develop and conduct event training program for various event and outreach technology tools and software used by the Events & Meetings Team.
  • Conduct facility tours and SOFWERX briefs to Government, Industry, Lab, and Academia visitors.
  • Conduct technology tool evaluations, conduct market research, and provide recommendations for process improvement.
  • Ensure SOFWERX branding is consistent, clear, and concise.
  • Lead Event Coordination team to ensure efficiency and effectiveness by measuring stakeholder and participant event feedback.
  • Supervise and provide oversight of SOFWERX communications with stakeholders.
  • Establish a reoccurring sync with SOFWERX Marketing Manager to plan, coordinate, and provide details for upcoming events.
  • Ensure SOFWERX leadership vision and goals are effectively implemented throughout the coordination of USSOCOM efforts. Provide personal and professional growth opportunities for both Event Coordinators and Events Intern through teaching, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Supervise Event Coordinators and Events Intern and provide reports, evaluation feedback, and observations to SOFWERX Events & Meetings Manager.
  • Make timely decisions at the appropriate level and promptly advise the Events & Meetings Manager or SWX Directors of those decisions or actions required at his/her level.
