Kananaskis Outfitters is an independently owned rental, guiding and retail shop nestled within the Kananaskis Valley. Encompassed by a majestic mountain playground with year-round adventures, we collaborate as a small, close-knit team to provide our guests and customers with an enjoyable and memorable experience on and off the trails.
This position includes staff accommodation in Kananaskis. Accomodation is a house with a yard that is shared with up to 2 other staff members.

Responsibilities
  • Guide hiking and snowshoe tours in an enthusiastic and safety-conscious manner(2-10 hours per week in the field)
  • Facilitate team-building activities while maintaining good communication with groups (corporate or private) in a timely and professional manner. Organize all details related to their tours and activities to optimize profit and operations. Invoice clients appropriately and collect payment in a timely manner.
  • Oversee casual guides and ensure their certifications are valid and approved for the tours they work.
  • Schedule casual guides and function help as needed to optimize operations and minimize wage costs. Administered in cooperation with the Owner or Manager.
  • Build and/or maintain accurate information of all tours and rentals in Checkfront (details, rates, times, availability, etc) on a regular basis. Manage Checkfront tour and rental inventory to align with shop needs and guide availability while maximizing profitability.
  • Upload products to OTA sites and maintain online profiles and products listings (TripAdvisor, Expedia, etc) and ensure API functionality.
  • Assisting with product (tour activity) building and development while maintaining all aspects of KO’s Tour Program. Ensuring current information is shared and updated in our Tour SOP. (All products are property of KO Ltd.)
  • Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction by providing excellent customer care and experiences with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Dispense accurate information pertaining to local area trails, attractions and amenities.
  • Performing and/or delegating shop associate duties when needed, including actively retailing products and merchandising, renting and maintaining equipment, tracking inventory and warranties, and maintaining shop cleanliness and organization.
  • Collaborate with the entire team to attain sales goals set out in annual and quarterly meetings.
  • In tourism, working weekends, holidays, and outside normal hours is expected and based on the needs of the business.
  • Employees are required to find their own way to and from the various work locations (Village, Barrier Lake, trailheads, etc.) while ensuring preparedness and punctuality.
