MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma
  • Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Journeyman or 3rd/4th-Year Apprenticeship through SkilledTradesBC
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Comfortable working independently in a field service environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Heavy Duty Red Seal Certification
  • Forklift Operator Certificate
  • 3+ years in forklift or material handling equipment service
  • 2+ years of mechanical repair and diagnostic experience
  • 1+ year of team leadership or mentoring experience
  • Familiarity with ERP/work order systems and quoting repairs
  • Customer-facing experience with strong relationship-building skills
  • Experience in the parts or rental equipment space is a strong asset

Regular Schedule: 7:00am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $37.00-$43.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 37.5 per week

ABOUT THE ROLE

RACKsteel Material Handling is expanding its forklift and equipment service division, and we’re seeking an experienced Lead Field Technician to support the growth of this exciting new department. You’ll work closely with the Service Manager and General Manager to help shape service operations and ensure that customer needs are met with professionalism and technical excellence.

YOUR ROLE INCLUDES

  • Acting as the lead technician in the continued launch of the service division from the ground level with the Service Manager.
  • Performing field-based service, repairs, and diagnostics on forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Acting as a lead technician, assisting in job coordination and mentoring junior techs as they are brought onboard.
  • Engaging directly with customers—explaining service work, identifying future needs, and solving problems on site.
  • Participating in outbound service calls and identifying opportunities for additional service work or equipment support.
  • Supporting the Service Manager in coordinating daily schedules, ensuring timely and efficient service delivery.
  • Contributing to the growth of the division by helping train and coach new hires.
  • Completing work orders accurately and maintaining strong communication with the internal parts and operations teams.
  • Maintaining company vehicles and assets, including service van.
  • Upholding safety, cleanliness, and professional standards across every site and job.
