JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Lead Incoming Inspector is responsible to provide guidance, motivation, and support to Incoming Inspectors. The Lead Incoming Inspector is responsible for the sampling, inspection, testing, and verification of raw materials, components, products prototypes received from suppliers to ensure that they meet quality and compliance standards and standard operating procedures (SOP). The lead incoming inspector will work closely with Incoming supervisor to investigate quality issues.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

This position requires:
1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. 2 or more years of experience in a quality role.
3. Knowledge of Quality Assurance practices and sampling methods.
Preferred qualifications include:
1. Testing and measurement equipment experience.
2. Basic computer skills, including BD systems (Datalan, SAP, etc.) and Microsoft Office.
3. Experience in medical device manufacturing environment or other regulated industry.

Responsibilities
  1. Direct and prioritize inspection activities for the team to meet production and compliance goals.
  2. Perform sampling, inspections, and tests as per the applicable SOPs, protocols, sampling plans.
  3. Apply sampling plans as directed and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  4. Document and report inspection results, including any deviations, discrepancies, or nonconformances.
  5. Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and related documentation. Under supervision of incoming supervisor lead containment and investigation efforts for minor nonconformances and assist in resolving quality issues per applicable SOPs.
  6. Complete calculations and statistical analyses as stated in applicable SOPs or as directed.
  7. Report data to appropriate personnel using basic statistical techniques.
  8. Collect and organize data for departmental metrics and prepare reports for management.
  9. Using a prescribed training format, train technicians or back-up personnel relative to inspection techniques, instruments, measuring tools, and documentation of inspection results.
  10. Identify and recommend continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inspection processes, improve product quality, equipment, and manufacturing performance.
  11. Facilitate updates to controlled documents through Engineering Change Order (ECO) process in SAP.
  12. Communicate in an effective, timely, and appropriate manner to all associates (i.e. peers, support teams and management), escalating issues as needed.
  13. Collaborate with Supplier Quality Specialist to ensure supplier compliance with BD requirements.
  14. Work overtime as needed by the department. Work flexible hours as business needs required.
  15. Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations.
  16. Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.
