Responsibilities

Dyson are looking for a Lead Industrial Designer to join our Global Design and Product Experience team. This role is based at our Malmesbury campus in the UK. You will collaborate with NPI teams to create innovative and market leading design concepts. You will champion design and user experience to other parts of the business. You will travel frequently to collaborate with our Research Design & Development teams as well as establish and build relationships with our global development and manufacturing network.

  • Own the look and feel of Dyson’s products.
  • Lead design for your product category.
  • Manage 1-3 industrial designers in the team.
  • Quickly visualise multiple design solutions at a very hi-resolution.
  • Ensure design alignment and consistency through-out multiple projects.
  • Lead Design and Product Experience reviews with senior stakeholders.
  • Be the voice of design while collaborating with Engineering and Product Management.
  • Collaborate daily with our global network of designers and engineers.
  • Negotiate and challenge engineering and product layout limitations
  • Create innovative design solutions that balance visuals, user-interaction, performance, manufacturing, and cost.
  • Sweat the intricate details of the design while keeping the overall design intent in mind.
  • Develop refined 3D surfaces for rendering, model building, and production.
  • Utilise digital and physical tools (models, physical rigs, renderings, 2D prints) to validate design solutions.
  • Direct model making resource to accurately demonstrate and communicate solutions.
