Job Overview The Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP), Lead will assist in the supervision of LSSPs to ensure compliance with federal and state laws as well as local operating guidelines as they apply to the evaluation and identification of students with disabilities. The incumbent will monitor compliance with regulations as stated in the Individuals with Disabilities Improvement Act (IDEA). Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversee and monitor Full Individual Evaluations and other appropriate evaluations conducted by evaluation staff as required by IDEA Assist in the planning of professional development for evaluation staff Coordinate LSSP interns Work in collaboration with the other assessment leads to develop and monitor assessment teams and district procedures Provide direct supervision as needed for LSSP licensure Provide consultation for recommendations regarding eligibility, services and placement of students with disabilities Monitor and assist in budgeting and ordering of materials for assessment staff including changes to evaluation instruments used by district staff in determining eligibility for special education Maintain thorough and up to date knowledge of all applicable laws and make recommendations for appropriate changes to departmental operating guidelines/procedures Gather and analyze data as needed for local, state and federal programs Assist in hiring of LSSPs as well as placement of LSSPs to ensure that all campuses have adequate coverage Attend all district meetings as assigned Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily. Master's degree in School Psychology or related field Licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists as an LSSP Minimum of 3 years of experience as an LSSP in the educational setting Exhibits excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills Physical Requirements/Working Conditions The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
