Description
The Mechanic III Lead position is responsible for overseeing the mechanics and keeping production machinery in good running conditions. This is accomplished through sound production machinery repair skills and preventative maintenance always performed in a safe and professional manner.  This position requires an in-depth understanding of production machinery, from simple mechanical to advanced high-speed packing equipment, pneumatics and hydraulics, to find, analyze and solve the root cause of machinery malfunction. * Lead and support a team of skilled mechanics and maintenance trades. * Experience is desired, preferably working on mechanical equipment, and production line food machinery and shop skills. * The ability to perform general fabrication, welding and machining are preferred. * Excellent mechanical analytical skills are necessary to detect and diagnose equipment problems, as well as implement rapid and effective solutions. * Must be able to work in varying environments including tight spaces, heat and cold, under and in equipment, on a ladder and other awkward/uncomfortable areas. * Good communication skills are necessary to read, understand and document work performed on work orders and work by equipment specification, detailed drawings, materials, safety data sheets, instrument and equipment manuals, blueprints, and other associated communication pieces.  * Must be able to effectively communicate with personnel in and out of the department regarding these areas. * Must be able to perform routine and corrective maintenance while using the eMaint work order system to manage daily tasks. This role requires the ability to create, assign, complete, and close work orders, as well as accurately document all work performed on assigned jobs. Experience with eMaint is preferred, but candidates must be willing and able to learn the system. * Must be a self-starter with the initiative to monitor equipment proactively and fix small problems before they become expensive and time consuming. * Part of the emergency response team for production and facilities. * Responsible for their own safety and the machinary safety of others. * Must always follow OSHA rules and Regulations including Lockout/Tagout * Responsible for food safety. * Responsibilities for periodic condition-based maintenance inspections. Carries out or coordinates preventative maintenance to a large variety of complex and specialized equipment. Qualifications * High School diploma or GED certificate preferred. * 4-6 years previous work-related experience preferred. * Prefer experience Welding using TIG, MIG, arc, gas, and argon on small, intricate and complex pieces and a variety of metals including stainless steel and aluminum with competent food grade safe welding. * Must have adequate vision, hearing and motor coordination to safely work at heights, in confined spaces and around mechanical and electrical equipment. * Physical requirements include walking, bending, crawling, reaching, stooping, twisting and lifting over 30 lbs., and the ability to withstand a production environment with exposure to dust, fumes and varying high/low temperatures. * Must have excellent mechanical aptitude and abilities with good analytical and methodical problem solving, trouble shooting and decision-making skills. * Must have experience with disassembly/assembly of precise, complex mechanisms and machines and related equipment and tools. * Ability to lift to 50 occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently. * Ability to stand on concrete surface up to 70% of shift. * Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required. * Must be able to pass a background investigation. * Safety Sensitive position, subject to initial and follow-up drug testing.
