Description
This position operates within the Charleston, SC Machining Center of Excellence and will focus on execution and implementation of best machining practices, including process troubleshooting and improvement, new product introduction, and advancements in machining technologies. This role requires knowledge and practical experience with a multitude of material removal processes including CNC turning, milling, grinding, and honing. In this function you will: Delivers process improvement cost out initiatives: Cycle Time Reduction, Tooling Cost Out, Set-up Reduction, Process Capability/First Pass Yield Utilize working knowledge of machining operations and the ability to create the machining processes from a blueprint. Utilize working knowledge of cutting tools and fixture design used in metal removal processes for daily trouble shooting activities, process improvement and process development. Introduce new products utilizing the New Product Introduction process in accordance with established standards and best practices driving a right the first-time philosophy. Participates as an active member in Rapid Improvement Events (RIE) to eliminate waste and drive standardization. Researches, justifies and implements new technology as part of the site's capital strategy. Develops and implements effective mistake proofing as part of continuous improvement and root cause/corrective action. Supports development and execution of overall manufacturing strategy that supports the site's business strategy to meet cost, quality and delivery. Participates as an active team member to address safety concerns in areas such as lock out tag out, machine guarding, and ergonomics. Fulfill the requirements of the Quality Policy and Quality Management System Minimum of 7 years of prior Manufacturing Engineering experience in a machining environment with a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required OR a Minimum of 10 years prior Manufacturing Engineering experience in a machining environment with an associate degree from an accredited institution required. CAM experience in milling operations. This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158. Relocation benefits are available for those within the United States and/or Puerto Rico willing to relocate to the Charleston, SC area. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Charleston, SC will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Bachelors of Science Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering is preferred 10+ years of prior Manufacturing Machining Engineering experience Subject Matter expertise in milling (3-5 axis) with additional knowledge of the following material removal processes: turning, grinding (ID, OD, and Centerless) and honing. Hands on mechanical/manufacturing experience Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership and teaming skills, solid analytical and reasoning skills. Working knowledge of machining production processes, lean manufacturing and quality control techniques, 5S, Six Sigma, and Quality systems (e.g. QS 9000, ISO 14001, ISO-9001, AS9100) preferred. PMP Certification Experienced in additional CAM software such as: Gibbs CAM / Master CAM Vericut knowledge and application Experience with Fixed and Controlled Processes Experience with PPAP Robotic automation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
