The Optical Solutions Business Unit at Coherent Vietnam is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to support the transfer, industrialization, and continuous improvement of high-precision optical, mechanical, and opto-mechanical assemblies used in advanced semiconductor equipment. This role operates in a unique manufacturing environment that differs significantly from traditional high-volume production. The products are low-volume, high-value assemblies requiring micron-level precision, strict cleanliness control, advanced metrology, and highly disciplined manufacturing processes. As a technical leader, you will work closely with global engineering teams to establish manufacturing capability in Vietnam, drive process excellence, support production ramp-up, and develop local technical talent. Successful candidates will receive extensive hands-on training in the United States and play a key role in building Coherent's long-term semiconductor manufacturing capability in Vietnam. Working Location: Nhon Trach 1 (Dong Nai) Key Responsibilities: Technology Transfer & Manufacturing Development * Lead the transfer and implementation of high-precision assembly processes from the United States to Vietnam. * Drive manufacturing readiness, process qualification, pilot builds, production ramp-up, and process stabilization activities. * Collaborate with global engineering teams to establish robust manufacturing processes and ensure successful technology transfer.   High-Precision Assembly & Process Engineering * Develop, maintain, and optimize manufacturing processes for optical, mechanical, and opto-mechanical assemblies used in semiconductor equipment. * Provide technical leadership and hands-on support for assembly, alignment, inspection, and process troubleshooting activities. * Drive yield improvement, cycle-time reduction, process capability enhancement, and manufacturing efficiency initiatives.   Metrology, Quality & Process Control * Support the implementation and continuous improvement of inspection methods, tooling, fixtures, process controls, and metrology systems. * Analyze manufacturing, quality, and metrology data to identify trends and implement corrective and preventive actions. * Ensure compliance with cleanroom standards, FOD control, ESD requirements, contamination-control procedures, and product-handling standards.   Technical Leadership & Capability Building * Lead technician training and qualification programs related to assembly processes, tooling, cleanroom practices, quality requirements, and documentation discipline. * Develop and maintain work instructions, assembly procedures, process documentation, inspection records, and training materials. * Act as a key technical resource for Manufacturing, Quality, Metrology, Supply Chain, and Production teams.   Continuous Improvement * Lead root-cause investigations and corrective action activities for process and product issues. * Promote Lean Manufacturing, 5S, process standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives. * Foster a culture of operational excellence, quality ownership, and technical discipline. Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Precision Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Optics, Materials Science, Physics, or related technical disciplines. * 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, assembly engineering, or production engineering within high-precision manufacturing environments. * Previous experience leading technical projects, process transfers, manufacturing improvements, or engineering teams is strongly preferred. * Experience in one or more of the following industries is highly desirable: Semiconductor equipment, Optical or photonics manufacturing, Precision mechanical assembly, Medical devices, Aerospace, Precision machining, Advanced manufacturing * Strong knowledge of high-precision assembly processes, engineering drawings, tolerancing, process controls, and manufacturing documentation. * Experience working with cleanroom manufacturing environments and contamination-control requirements. * Familiarity with precision metrology equipment such as CMM, optical inspection systems, interferometers, micrometers, height gauges, and similar measurement tools. * Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, SPC, root-cause analysis, process validation, and continuous improvement methodologies. * Strong hands-on engineering capability with the ability to lead from the manufacturing floor. * Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. * Strong communication and stakeholder-management abilities in a global manufacturing environment. * Fluent English communication skills. * Willingness to travel to the United States for extended technical training and technology-transfer activities.   Why Join Us?
