Founded in 1873, GLW Feeds are one of the largest independent, family-owned livestock and speciality feed manufacturers in the UK, concentrating in roll, nut, pellet, and meal-form compound feeds. Significant investment since has resulted in a hi-tech computer-controlled production capacity of approaching 300,000 tonne capacity across two sites. Both of our sites are very close to the M1.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Estimate average weekly usage of raw materials from bins and predicted usage for following week’s production. Manage bin space by making decisions on bin allocation.
• Organise all bulk deliveries into the mill to keep all raw materials topped up for production, including filling up the liquid tanks
• Managing contracts and tonnage availabilities
• Liaise with suppliers delivering stock on a daily and weekly basis
• Liaise with Hauliers and organise relevant fixings numbers hauliers require for collections.
• Liaise with weighbridge staff to ensure order numbers reconcile with deliveries
• Deal with issues when bins cannot take full delivery and make daily decisions on bin capacity.
• Liaise with stores to hold excess stock, and update administration to log farmer’s details for delivery and arrange for collection once space is available for stock
• Deal with issues at the mill and react to breakdowns or changes in production.
• Produce daily intake sheets for weighbridge and intake staff.
• Work closely with the mill manage to liaise on production and requirements.
• Maintain an excel working plan for raw materials for scheduling deliveries
• Produce daily and weekly reports of material usage
• Investigate and gains authorisation to agree waiting charges and extra costs
• Make moisture and bushel claims where required.
• Weekend on-call to deal with stock issues and calls on weekdays where required
