Description Purpose / General Description: Lead Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing technical problems with mechanical / structural, hydraulic, electrical / electronic, fuel, and pneumatic systems. Mechanic is also responsible for moving trucks around the shop for repairs, performing service at remote locations if needed, road-testing trucks to confirm diagnostics and repairs; and fill in for the Shop Manager as required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Always maintain safety awareness, wear all PPE consistently, perform tasks in a safe manner and ensure others always work safely. Bring awareness to issues and potential issues (near-miss) as discovered in all areas of the operation. Clearly understand all expectations for performance, policies, procedures and work requirements, Safety, Quality, Maintenance, Productivity and Housekeeping. Be an effective team member by setting a proper example, fulfilling responsibilities, keeping commitments to others, communicating effectively, and building teamwork within the group. Operate and maintain tools and equipment necessary for completing tasks in a safe and productive manner. Perform tasks to all scheduled requirements. Respond effectively to changes in plans. Complete all reporting as required accurately and in a timely fashion. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma / GED (Certification in diesel technology or other specialty is a plus) Valid NC Driver License, clean driving record, and have reliable transportation to work Be willing to complete training for CDL Licensing (training provided by company) Able to lift (up to 75lbs.), and be physically fit to perform tasks and operate equipment Work independently and diligently with minimal directions, to complete tasks on schedule Communicate well with team members and supervision Apply creativity to solve problems and contribute to the success of the team Note: This position has physical requirements: Employees must possess the ability to perform the essential job functions successfully and safely within the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Employees must maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards. Employees are required to operate and troubleshoot machinery. Prolonged periods of standing and walking are an essential function of the job. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time.
Responsibilities
