As such, we in the Advanced Product Solutions department provide the remote sensing systems, for time critical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations. Our ISR Information and Intelligence Engineering group develops algorithms and software for processing, optimizing, and creating intelligence products from these sensors. The mechanical engineering group is seeking an established Lead Opto-Mechanical Design Technician for an On-Site position in our Westford, MA location. You will perform mechanical design and documentation of electro-mechanical assemblies, and support our manufacturing facility ONSITE in Westford, MA What You Will Do: The candidate is expected to follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with lead engineers to ensure the overall design and production goals are met. The designer is expected to have proficient experience with PTC Creo Parametric software. The candidate is also expected to have a strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and their application for design documentation and fabrication. Work within a multi-disciplined team of engineers to propose, design, develop solutions ranging from structural design, optic housing design, electronics equipment packaging, circuit card assemblies, and interconnects for our sensor systems. A strong ability to communicate and collaborate with engineering teams and suppliers to design, model, and create technical data packages is desired. Ensure compliance with configuration management, drafting requirements, and GD&T principles. Manage large assemblies in PTC Creo Parametric software, optimize drafting and modeling methodologies, and support model and product development from concept layouts to final detailed releases. Proficiency in Creo and robust GD&T knowledge are essential. Occasional travel to suppliers may be required to address production issues, resolve technical performance challenges, or attend critical program engineering reviews. Qualifications You Must Have: Typically requires minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design drafting and development preferably of defense-related components or systems or aerospace. Proficient with PTC Creo Parametric (preferred) or other mechanical CAD design tools. Experience using PTC Windchill PLM system. Experience with utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles. Qualifications We Prefer: Experience in the design of electromechanical assemblies and the interrelationship of the components therein related to optical system design. Including kinematic mounting, athermalization, optic potting, etc. Knowledge of aerostructure, fastener design, materials and fabrication methods. Experience creating high tolerance mechanical part and assembly drawings. Experience in the support of design and integration of mechanical products and assemblies. Strong interpersonal, communication skills and able to work independently and as a team member. Knowledge of Mechanical CAD design and electronic design.
