THE OPPORTUNITY

Sedgman Prudentia is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team in Brisbane. With a strong pipeline of multi-discipline projects across the Minerals Processing, Energy, and Chemicals sectors, this role offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership and mentor engineering teams.
You will work closely with clients and multi-discipline stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions across both greenfield and brownfield projects. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in a fast-paced consulting environment, shaping innovative solutions for our clients.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering, with CPEng/RPEng and RPEQ.
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience, including project delivery and work on multi-discipline projects across various engineering phases.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical and piping engineering, including the design of tanks and vessels following industry codes and FEA (mandatory) and performing pipe stress analysis (desirable).
  • Proven ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, and engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Proficiency in engineering design tools, MS Office, and technical documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The successful candidate should be willing and able to travel to remote sites or interstate as required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical engineering scopes for minerals processing and mining projects, ensuring technical compliance with client standards, and seamless integration into new and existing facilities.
  • Provide mechanical design and analysis for piping systems, tanks, vessels, pressure equipment, materials handling, and rotating equipment, including calculation, risk assessments and failure investigations to enhance reliability and safety.
  • Selection of mechanical equipment, aligning with client/industry requirements and Australian/international standards where applicable.
  • Mentor and lead engineering teams, fostering professional development and ensuring high-quality project outcomes.
  • Oversee and manage the mechanical and piping discipline project delivery within scope, budget, and schedule, while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline teams, clients, and site personnel to develop and implement practical engineering solutions.
