Medical Imaging & PET Clinical Programs
The Medical Imaging & PET Clinical Programs manages quality initiatives and operations in multiple areas of patient care – often in emerging and rapidly evolving areas of imaging and treatments. In addition to targeted quality initiatives and system planning in medical imaging, the scope of the Medical Imaging & PET Clinical Programs includes independent program areas for: interventional radiology procedures used for minimally-invasive focal tumour ablation treatment(s) and for oncology-related spinal augmentation; radioligand therapy delivery of specialized radionuclide treatments and companion diagnostics; the oversight for select CT/MRI guided procedures; the management of radiology quality assurance for the Ontario Lung Screening Program; and, the oversight for all aspects of provincial PET scanning, with a mandate to support patient access, real-world evidence building, quality oversight, and system-level planning.
The Lead, Medical Imaging role requires strong project management skills and organization, with experience leading clinically-relevant initiatives. The individual will have the ability to understand and connect relevant areas of evidence and practice, policy, and operations, and have experience with stakeholder engagement, and indicators and performance management. The individual will be able to work independently with both internal (across Ontario Health programs/portfolios), and external (clinicians of various specialties, Ministry staff, hospital and/or program administration (e.g. Manager/Director level), etc.) stakeholders.

Here is what you will be doing:

• Support the Group Manager, Medical Imaging, in daily operations across Medical Imaging Program workstreams by collaborating with team members and ensuring that project and operational milestones are achieved.
• Assist the Group Manager in managing corporate reporting and accountability, including the development and monitoring of the Medical Imaging and PET Clinical Programs Operating Plan, Ontario Health corporate reporting (e.g., Cancer Dashboard), Ministry reporting (e.g., financials and program deliverables), and Annual Business Planning processes.
• Contribute to strategic planning for Medical Imaging Program areas, ensuring alignment and coordination with imaging initiatives from other Ontario Health programs and Cancer Care Ontario strategic plans. Identify opportunities to enhance or connect initiatives where appropriate.
• Develop subject matter expertise in relevant Medical Imaging Program areas and serve as the primary contact for day-to-day inquiries or concerns.
• Lead initiatives within the Medical Imaging Program to improve quality patient care in imaging and image-guided or related therapies. This includes identifying emerging evidence and practice changes, developing policy and clinical guidance recommendations, and supporting clinical adoption.
• Facilitate discussions with clinical and subject matter experts to inform program objectives and understand system pressures. Analyze and synthesize feedback to provide insights within the context of patient care and clinical operations.
• Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders, including Ontario Health programs and core teams, clinicians, health administrators, and the Ministry of Health.
• Lead or support the development of various communications and documents, such as briefing notes, clinical and administrative communications, issues management materials, presentations, and business cases.
• Contribute to the development of measurement strategies and regularly review program indicators to identify potential quality issues.
• Collaborate with regional partners to monitor and manage the performance of Medical Imaging Program-related indicators.
• Provide subject matter content support for funding agreements.

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience

• A graduate degree in a field such as healthcare administration, health services research, biomedical sciences or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Project management certification (e.g., PMP) or related an asset
• 4-8 years, including 3-5 years of recent practical and related experience in medical imaging (e.g., quality improvement initiatives in healthcare).
• Prior work within a healthcare setting an asset
• Knowledge of Ontario healthcare system and processes, including performance management and funding/contracts, preferred
• Experience working with clinical committees and working groups, synthesizing clinical discussions to advance the quality agenda.
• Experience facilitating and synthesizing stakeholder input, and ability to augment with relevant sources (e.g., literature, policy, etc.) to inform program initiatives.
• Experience with operational or quality indicator development and monitoring.
• Experience with development of comprehensive program or project measurement framework(s) an asset.
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Knowledge and Skills

• Demonstrated ability to manage several projects using project management tools to lead initiatives from initial design to implementation and operations (e.g., project planning, stakeholder engagement, status reporting, measurement, risk mitigation)
• Demonstrated ability to identify potential issues through either stakeholder engagement or data interpretation, with the ability to prioritize and propose next steps
• Proven ability to develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to establish trust, credibility and respect
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage and solicit consensus across a variety of internal and external stakeholders, to inform and support the delivery of operational/program activities
• Advanced critical thinking and resourcefulness in resolving problems across multiple program areas, with confidence and maturity to recognize issues that can be managed by the Lead and team, and which require escalation
• Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize tasks across workstreams, including balancing operational needs with advancing quality initiatives
