Description

RMS is seeking a skilled Lead Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Technician to perform inspections and evaluations that determine the acceptance or rejection of components in accordance with written procedures and industry standards. This role is responsible for setting up and calibrating NDT equipment, accurately interpreting and evaluating test results, and ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications. With a thorough understanding of the capabilities and limitations of NDT methods, the Lead NDT Technician provides technical expertise on the shop floor while offering on-the-job training and guidance to Assistants and Level I Technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality inspection practices.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of three years’ experience with Nondestructive testing
  • NDT Level II Certification in Magnetic Particle and Liquid Penetrant testing
  • MPI Bench experience preferred

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED from accredited institution

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The position may be based in RMS’s Houston, TX facility..
  • Travel time is expected less than 15%
  • This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on project needs.
  • This position can be required to participate in the company random or customer specific drug and alcohol screening and background check.
  • Ability to act professionally under stressful situations.
  • Able to understand, read, write and speak English.
  • Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.(with assistance), walk, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance.
  • Must be able to use hands for assembling and tool usage
  • While performing the duties of this position the employee will be required to stand, sit, bend, and walk for significant portions of the shift
  • Must not have allergies or issues related to handling metals, including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.
  • Establish techniques for proper examination of components or assemblies being inspected.
  • Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
  • Generate and maintain nonconformance reports to ensure that all discrepant components and assemblies are evaluated in accordance with company requirements.
  • Generate inspection/test reports and associated documentation.
  • Instruct/ train others.
