Description
Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Lead Network Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia.

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated experience in IP Network design and implementation with broad experience in delivering complex telecommunications projects in the Australian rail industry.
  • Experience in Design & Construct methodology, Systems Engineering concepts, Configuration management, Implementation and site testing and commissioning activities.
  • Proven experience in telecommunications CORE systems, Network Management Systems, Backbone Networks and telecoms Infrastructure are essential.
  • Excellent report writing and oral communication skills with the ability to decipher complex issues
  • Impart your technical expertise as you lead a team of experienced engineers
  • A strong work ethic, self-starter and ability to relate well to both work colleagues within a team environment and external parties.
  • Ensure that project activities including designs are completed to a high standard and where required incorporate continuous improvement initiatives
  • An engineering degree enabling full membership to Engineers Australia
  • CCNP/JNCIS/JNCIP qualified Network Engineer with minimum 15+ years’ experience
  • Extensive experience in Cisco routing and switching technologies
  • Strong understanding of the following technologies: IP/MPLS, BGP4 and OSPF
  • Strong project experience with an ability to manage priorities and multitask

Responsibilities

You will work on the design and implementation of communications projects that incorporate radio sites, IP nodes, solutions for voice and data communications, Fiber Optic and copper-based transmission systems, power supply systems, and related ancillary systems.
As part of the engineering design and delivery team, you will be primarily responsible for design, testing and integration activities related to IP networks.
