SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Under the direct or indirect supervision of the Health and Wellness Supervisor, the Lead Nurse is responsible for supervising the Health Team, responding to resident and family needs, and providing safe, and competent care to residents in their home.
Origin at Spring Creek is looking to hire 2 Lead Nurses. The first lead nurse role is within Origin at Spring Creek supporting the health team, and ensuring compliance with health standards. The second lead nurse role will be helping expand our Origin at Home program to provide health care services in the Canmore and Banff communities.

Responsibilities
  • Practice within the scope of practice of an LPN or RN in Alberta
  • Monitors the health of residents and notes the level of assistance required.
  • Provides emergency care and first aid to residents and staff
  • Supervises the HCAs to ensure care is completed per the Care Plan
  • Supervises the administration of medications by HCAs and administers medications including but not limited to High Alert Medications, PRN, anticoagulants, etc in accordance with residence policy
  • Ensure documentation in accordance with residence policy, including but not limited to resident charting, behaviour mapping, medication sign off, wound care pathways, incident reports, WCB reports, etc.
  • Assists Health Care Aides in the completion all aspects of resident care as outlined in the plan of care and care assignment documentation and communicates with shift supervisors about activities, needs and problems related to resident care and/or safety.
  • Participates with resident move in process and helps with the orientation and/or internal transfer process of residents as directed.
  • Collaborates with resident physicians the ensure residents safety and health
  • Collaborates with Alberta Health Services Case Managers in regards to resident care needs
  • Collaborates with Pharmacy for resident medications in accordance with residence policies
  • Collaborates with other departmental personnel to ensure continuity of care.

    Pay: $33.00-$45.00 per hour
