Lead Officer – Domestic Nuisance and EP Public Health Band: G Salary: £53,460 to £61,638 per annum Permanent Contract 37 Hours per Week The post holder will be responsible for ensuring domestic nuisance and Environmental Protection (EP) public health responsibilities / statutory duties are effectively completed on behalf of the council, and that the team meets its performance targets in this area. You must be a good leader with comprehensive EP domestic nuisance and public health knowledge to effectively support, lead and supervise ward area officers within the team. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that ward area officers follow robust operating procedures and keep these under routine review. You will need to stay up to date with relevant EP legislation / guidance to inform the EP Team Manager where changes are required. The post holder will supervise service requests, complaint and Information Matters responses to ensure relevant government and department deadlines are met. You will supervise ward area officer planning and licensing consultation responses and ensure the competent use and effective maintenance of the team’s domestic nuisance scientific / technical monitoring equipment. You will need to be an excellent communicator with the ability to effectively organise workloads on your own. You will need comprehensive computer skills and be able to effectively deliver verbal communications. Excellent report writing skills and the ability to create / oversee comprehensive prosecution files is a paramount requirement for this role. At times the post holder will be required to supervise the investigation of domestic nuisance / public health work outside of normal working hours, attend relevant professional’s meetings to represent the team, and support the EP Team Manager when requested. Essential Qualification(s): You must hold the Environmental Health BSc or MSc qualification and be able to demonstrate current and comprehensive experience of the Environmental Protection intervention area. DBS: A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at Enhanced Level is required for this role.
