QUALIFICATIONS

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has established a basic educational requirement that is outlined in the Individual Occupational Requirements (IORs) for the Operations Research, 1515 series and are as follows: Degree: In operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE ABOVE BASIC EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, YOU MUST ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one of the following:

Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:

  • Contributing to collecting, organizing, and studying information, techniques/technologies, operations, and processes from a variety of sources.
  • Managing data analytics life cycle and development of models, tools, dashboards, processes and procedures.
  • Performing data profiling and data quality analysis for structured and unstructured data sets.
  • Serving as an expert at analyzing and evaluating relevant gaps/risks.

DUTIES

As a Lead Operations Research Analyst, at the full performance level, you will perform the following duties:

  • Serve as the lead expert-level analyst and advisor to management.
  • Assess program development, execution and improving organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Validate and verifies the availability of data useful to perform required modeling or analysis.
  • Perform analytical work involving what-if analysis and data interpretation.
  • Lead a team of Management and Program Analysts (Data).
