Description SEIU 1199NW is looking for a Lead Organizer to lead a team of Organizers in supporting the organization’s initiatives. The right individual will have strong skills in leading organizers to identify, recruit and involve member-leaders in the workplace. The lead organizer also will work with the union’s staff and leadership to develop successful, innovative strategies for organizing and membership growth. Key Responsibilities include: Communicate and support organization initiatives Lead and mentor Organizers including monitoring daily work, recordkeeping, and reviewing & assisting with building weekly work plans Regularly train and shadow Organizers in the turf Regularly meet with the Sr. Team to report on progress of the turf and Organizers Facilitate contract implementation in workplace Lead political programing Implement on-boarding program for Organizers in collaboration with Director of Staff Development Work with e-board members to execute the plan of the Union Design and coordinate staff training and development programs Assist in the evaluation of organizers Other related duties as assigned Requirements Qualifications for Lead Organizer Proven ability to lead staff and members – minimum of 2-4 years Experience running successful organizing campaigns Contract negotiation experience Ability to motivate, inspire and hold staff accountable to campaign work Experience in leadership development Ability to work with diverse range of people Demonstrated ability to lead, train and evaluate staff A minimum of 5 years union organizing experience including a leadership role Strong Excel Skills Strong Microsoft Office skills including Word, Outlook, and Teams
Responsibilities
The Lead Organizer will communicate and support organizational initiatives while leading and mentoring a team of Organizers. They will also facilitate contract implementation and assist in the evaluation of organizers.
