The Lead, Performance Management, reports to the Manager, Performance Management & Analytics. This pivotal role involves overseeing the development of data analysis and reporting content for emerging provincial laboratory medicine issues, high-priority initiatives, and testing programs in Ontario.
Here is what you will be doing:
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Develop primary data analysis and reporting content by accessing Ontario’s health administrative databases. Implement data visualizations, report on key performance indicators, and link variables against available provincial datasets.
- Performance Monitoring: Manage the Ontario Laboratory Medicine Program’s Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Framework. Collaborate with team members to lead system improvements through planning, monitoring, reporting, and evaluating initiatives.
- Reporting Compliance: Develop and implement a reporting compliance subprogram. Identify quality gaps within Ontario’s healthcare system and recommend courses of action to address these gaps.
- Descriptive Analyses: Synthesize descriptive analyses on relevant populations and service areas. Examine and interpret regional and institutional variations in utilization and outcomes, preparing executive reports for leadership.
- Performance Management Capabilities: Implement the design, development, and optimization of performance management capabilities for the lab network, including monitoring, key metrics reporting, and data analytics.
- Optimization and Maintenance: Optimize and maintain a performance management system specifically for COVID-19 testing. This includes setting performance standards and metrics, targets, accountability agreements, scorecards, tracking tools, and audit and feedback reports.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure key senior stakeholders have accurate, clean, and timely information for informed decision-making related to Laboratory Medicine testing.

Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Health Informatics, Data Analytics or a related health care field
- Project Management (PMP) Certification is an asset
- 8+ years experience in the provision of expertise and services in the area of data analytics within the health care sector
- Laboratory-related experience is an asset
Knowledge and Skills
- Specialized knowledge of health data with an ability to understand and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to both identify the need for and assess the impact of changes and inform strategic decisions and goals
- Knowledge in performance measurement, metrics and reporting
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, provide guidance and technical advice to solve issues as they arise, implement change and motivate team to drive strategic objectives
- Exceptional judgment and extensive skillset in data analytics, evidence-based decision making, and storytelling through data visualization
- Highly proficient in excel and proficiency/familiarity with other analytical tools (e.g. Alteryx, R, Powered BI and Tableau)
- Strong supervisory and project management experience that allow for managing multiple priorities at once across various stakeholder groups
- An ability to distill complex and/or ambiguous problems into clear, clear, concise, compelling messages
- Self-directed, with enthusiasm, initiative and demonstrated ability to work independently to deadlines under high pressure
