Description

The Lead Piping Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and layout of piping systems for oil and gas projects, ensuring compliance with industry codes, standards, and project specifications. The role involves coordination with multiple engineering disciplines, vendors, and clients to deliver high-quality piping designs on time and within budget.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in piping design for oil & gas, petrochemical, or related industries
  • Previous experience in an engineering consultancy preferred
  • Proficient in 3D modelling software (PDMS/E3D, SP3D) and stress analysis tools (Caesar II)
  • Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards (ASME, API, ASTM)
  • Familiarity with P&IDs, piping layouts, and material specifications

Responsibilities
  • Develop and review piping designs, layouts, and isometrics.
  • Prepare and review piping material specifications, datasheets, and MTOs (Material Take-Off).
  • Prepare project deliverables including piping GA drawings, isometrics, critical line lists, and material requisitions.
  • Perform stress analysis using Caesar II in compliance with ASME, API, and relevant codes.
  • Review and approve stress analysis reports, ensuring proper flexibility, support, and expansion considerations.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and piping codes/standards (ASME B31.3, API, ASTM, etc.).
  • Conduct pipe routing studies and develop preliminary layouts for feasibility and optimization.
  • Interface with process, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation teams for integrated design.
  • Review and approve vendor drawings, piping component specifications, and related technical documents.
  • Participate in 3D model reviews (30%, 60%, 90%) to ensure constructability and maintainability.
  • Support procurement activities by providing technical evaluations and clarifications.
  • Understand project lifecycle from FEED to Detailed Design and EPC stages.
