This is a varied and challenging role that requires strong communication, resilience and problem-solving skills.
Some young people can behave in a way that is challenging to others and part of our role is to teach them safer and more effective ways of communicating their needs. However, a level of challenge still exists. For this reason, the role requires someone who is physically fit.
Reporting to the Head of Education, you will be responsible for the oversight of pupil behaviour across the school, as well as working closely to monitor and respond to safeguarding issues.

We are an independent, specialist setting where the children are genuinely at the heart of all we do. With currently 32 students on roll between the ages of 8 and 18 and future growth planned, we offer a tailored curriculum built around individual needs, ensuring each student meets their aims and aspirations whilst feeling safe and valued within the school community.
We are looking for a candidate who:
Has worked within in an educational setting, preferably within SEND or SEMH provisions.
Has strong experience in managing behaviour and developing interventions for students with SEND and SEMH needs.
Has a proven track record in safeguarding, ideally as a Designated Safeguarding Lead or deputy DSL, with a thorough understanding of safeguarding protocols and procedures.
Builds strong, positive relationships with the child, staff, parents, and other professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to learning.
Actively contributes to the wider life of the school and supports a positive, inclusive school culture.
Is resilient, flexible and a strong team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude and sense of fun.
Above all else, champions our children and will nurture and inspire them to be the best they can be.

In return, we can offer you:

  • A supportive and passionate staff team that works collaboratively to ensure the success and well-being of every child
  • A school environment that prioritises both learning and the well-being of all children
  • The opportunity to help shape the future of Our Place
  • Involvement in high-quality training and professional development
  • Opportunities for progression
  • Work-related benefits including cycle-to-work, tech scheme, blue-light card entitlement.
