About the Role
We’re looking for a Lead Product Designer to help shape the future of digital health at Bupa. In this role, you’ll lead a cross-functional squad and a small team of designers, driving both how the product works and how we discover what to build.
You’ll be a strategic partner to product and engineering leadership, guiding product discovery, defining experience strategy, and ensuring design excellence-with the support of your Design Principal. You’ll also coach and grow designers, helping them thrive in empowered product teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Discovery & Strategy: Frame problems, test ideas, and guide your team toward effective, validated solutions.
  • Design Holistic Experiences: Own the end-to-end user journey, ensuring the product delivers real value and feels intuitive to use.
  • Conduct & Guide Research: plan and conduct evaluative user research and ensure insights are embedded into design decisions.
  • Run Workshops & Design Sprints: Facilitate collaborative sessions to align teams and accelerate discovery.
  • Coach & Develop Designers: Line manage and mentor a team of product designers, supporting their growth and development.
  • Influence Product Direction: Shape roadmaps, define team objectives, and align on outcomes with product and engineering leads.
  • Balance Business and User Needs: create design solutions that are desirable, feasible, and commercially viable working closely with stakeholders to understand constraints.
  • Elevate Design Quality: Set the standard for design craft and thinking across your squad and the wider design community.
  • Promote Design Systems: Contribute to and advocate for Bupa’s design system (Anatomy) to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Ensure Accessibility: Champion inclusive design and ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
  • Foster a Discovery Culture: Champion a culture of experimentation, user engagement, and evidence-based decision-making.
