Description
We’re a 50-person B2B SaaS company building AI tools for patent search. We’re looking for a senior designer who cares about design craft, someone who wants to create, not manage. You’ll work closely with other designers and our Director of Product to bring ideas to life. This is a hands-on individual contributor role for someone who enjoys making things and shaping product direction through design. If you value straightforward collaboration and care more about impact than titles, you’ll fit in here. What you'd do Own product design for our patent search product from R&D monitoring to invalidity searches Design dense, powerful interfaces for patent professionals who need precision over prettiness Run your own user research: talk to users, validate designs, advocate for their needs Partner with product and engineering: ship fast, iterate based on what actually works Raise the bar for the team through your work: other designers will learn by working alongside you Maintain our design system and design for AI features such as semantic search, document Q&A, and multi-patent analysis Do whatever needs doing: marketing materials, customer decks, helping debug CSS. This is a startup, so you roll up your sleeves and change tires if that's what it takes to ship. You'd thrive if You care more about whether your design helps patent professionals do their work than how it looks in a portfolio You stand by your ideas but change your mind when the facts do You see a 50-person company as a place where you can shape things directly You understand that good design for experts values function and clarity over visual minimalism You're a bit of a nerd who gets curious about complex domains You're genuinely curious about AI and how humans should interact with it You value shipping over perfecting Bonus: You're comfortable with Figma but know when to vibe code with Claude Code (or whatever tool fits) What you need Strong product design craft and design sense Portfolio showing complex B2B/SaaS work (especially data-heavy interfaces) Experience doing your own user research (plan studies, run interviews, translate insights) Understanding of AI deep enough to design trustworthy, explainable interfaces Track record of shipping products in scrappy environments where you balanced speed and quality Ability to work cross-functionally with confidence, not ego Experience mentoring designers and leading design work This isn't for you if You’re mainly interested in winning awards for minimal consumer apps rather than solving complex expert problems You expect a full research team and support staff to do your work Everything must be perfect before shipping You need fixed processes and unlimited resources to be effective You focus more on tools than on outcomes AI doesn’t interest you beyond surface-level curiosity You want a narrowly defined role with no variation or shared responsibility The recruitment process We like to keep our process simple and transparent. Here’s what to expect: Introductory call with Talent Acquisition Manager Conversation with CTO and designer Conversation with your future manager (Director of Product) and ML Team Lead Final call with our CPO If this role sounds like a good match, send us your CV and cover letter by 23.11.2025. We’ll review applications continuously and invite candidates to interviews during the application period. Why IPRally We build AI that truly understands patents, helping IP teams make better and faster decisions. Our tools are trusted by leading companies around the world. You’ll join a small, international team where your work has real impact. We offer six weeks of paid holiday, flexible hybrid work, learning and development support, stock options, and a friendly, collaborative culture that values both quality and balance. Location: Helsinki preferred, remote considered for exceptional candidates.
