THE ROLE

As a Lead Project Controls Specialist, you will play a critical role in steering strategic project management within the Custom Networks organization. Your position demands an initiative-taking and purposeful approach, as you collaborate across Enterprise Ops and key business units such as finance, product, strategy, and sales to craft comprehensive deployment strategies, ensure precise forecasting, and measure impactful outcomes.
You will oversee the execution of complex Wireline projects and programs, ensuring that solutions not only align with overarching business objectives but also set a benchmark for excellence. Your insights will guide the deployment of project management methodologies across diverse initiatives, while fostering collaboration with leadership, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to deliver seamless end-to-end performance that consistently meets or exceeds expectations in terms of timeliness and budget adherence.
By upholding a commitment to operational excellence and embodying the core values of Lumen, you will champion innovation in project planning, execution, and optimization. By effectively mitigating risks, refining processes, and driving forward-thinking solutions, you will be instrumental in advancing organizational success and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement.

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize earned value management (EVM) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI) reporting to monitor project performance and ensure alignment with overall business objectives. Leverage advanced analytics and KPIs to track cost and schedule variances, identify deviations early, and implement corrective measures proactively. Employ robust forecasting tools and data visualization techniques to optimize decision-making and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and sustain strong relationships across cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with project goals through initiative-taking communication strategies. Regularly seek and incorporate feedback, recognize and celebrate key milestones, and resolve conflicts swiftly to promote trust and collaboration among stakeholders.
  • Communication Excellence: Develop and execute strategic communication frameworks to maintain transparency and engagement across all project stakeholders. Craft clear, tailored messaging to different audiences, ensuring alignment and clarity at all levels.
  • Change Management: Lead adaptable strategies to address shifts in project scope, timelines, or budgets with minimal disruption. Support teams in navigating transitions smoothly while maintaining workflow efficiency and continuity.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify, evaluate, and address potential risks to ensure seamless project execution. Develop and implement comprehensive contingency plans and conduct “what-if” scenario analyses to anticipate challenges and enable swift interventions when necessary.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by systematically evaluating project outcomes, embedding lessons learned into future initiatives, and promoting innovation in processes and strategies. Implement retrospective analyses and dynamic feedback loops to drive excellence within projects and across the broader organization.
