ABOUT US

The aim is to provide a person-centred approach and therapeutic environment, which promotes collaborative care planning to optimise treatment goals. Right from the point of admission to our acute services, our aim is to support patients to be discharged safely back into the community where they can continue to progress towards recovery in a less restrictive environment.

This will be achieved by:

  • Thorough assessment of individuals’ needs throughout admission
  • Person-centred collaborative treatment plans
  • A range of interventions available from a diverse MDT
  • Being cared for in the least restrictive environment
  • Effective liaison and joint working with Locality team

In taking on this role, you will be part of a visionary and inspiring team and will be joining a group of individuals whose main goal is to support our patients and their families with their recovery journey and to live their best life.
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a pivotal role within the hospital’s Multi-Disciplinary Team, which consists of other professionals such as: Psychologist, Assistant Psychologist, Occupational Therapists (OT), OT Assistants and students, Registered Nurses and Student Nurses/Apprentices, Health Care Assistants, Pharmacist, and Independent Mental Health Advocate.
The hospital works closely with NHS partners to ensure that patients safely transition from our Acute Services back into the community, with robust follow-up support packages.
The acute wards on site provide patients with excellent space and facilities, including en-suite bedrooms and large living spaces furnished with activity equipment such as games consoles. Outside of the wards, a purpose-built therapy suite contains a rehabilitation kitchen for patient cooking sessions and a sessional therapy room. The hospital is set in the centre of an extensive nature reserve, which contains an abundance of flora & fauna. The site also has areas for outside sports activity.
The clinical team encourage full involvement of the service user, their family, and external professionals throughout their stay. They are invited to attend Ward Reviews and CPA meetings to ensure clear communication throughout the care pathway in order to promote individuals’ recovery and facilitate discharge.
In order to maximise recovery, interventions offered include a wide range of therapeutic approaches, combining psychiatric and cognitive behavioural perspectives with occupational therapy, psychology, leisure, and recreational activity.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to cover 17 beds in our Acute service, covering Robin and Swan wards.
The role will be working with male and female patients. You will fulfil the role of Responsible Clinician to patients from admission to discharge with the support of a skilled and motivated MDT.
You will be part of a well-established and cohesive team of medics which includes the Medical Director, Consultant Psychiatrist, Speciality Doctors, Registered Medical Officers, and Aston University Medical Students.
Lakeside View also has strong links with other surrounding hospitals within the region, providing the opportunity to network with other Consultants from different specialisms and service lines.
