Position Summary:
This role ensures that the routine laboratory tasks and project work within the department are carried out as per procedures. They must also ensure that they provide required training and guidance to the Technicians in the department. They must also assist in problem solving and improvements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Applied Biology (with microbiology) or a closely related discipline / equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Pharmaceutical Microbiology.
  • Ability to work to critical timelines.
  • A proactive approach
  • Effective communication skills at all internal levels.

Responsibilities
  • To carry out scientific and technical tasks within the Microbiology Quality Control Department in an effective and efficient manner.
  • To perform routine laboratory procedures; may coordinate work of others within the section.
  • To prepare technical documentation within the department, as the need arises.
  • To train others, as the need arises.
  • To ensure that all personal lead times are followed, subject to there being no attenuating circumstances.
  • To carry out and handle projects in the department, as required.
  • To develop and validate laboratory procedures within the department, as required.
  • To review analytical and laboratory data within the department for accuracy, completeness and compliance with documented procedures.
  • To communicate effectively with team members on site and to participate with departmental and site wide problem solving as required.
  • To carry out other tasks as required from time to time.
  • Ensure cGMP is applied in their area of work and follow cGMP in all areas of the business.

EH&S:

  • Understand emergency procedures and align with safe systems of work.
  • Ensure compliance with environment, health and safety and security policies and procedures, rules, signage and instructions at all times
  • Ensure prompt reporting and investigation of all accidents, near misses and breaches of rules
